Action is the key…

July 7, 2010

Did you know that on Wednesday we are exactly halfway through the year?

Now there is a thought.

Do you remember sitting at home between Christmas and the New Year with your journal. You have written down your goals for the business, your family and your health. You also heard about the “law of attraction” and set everything in motion.

So how come exactly half way through the year your goals still look some way off

There are three big reasons why people fail to achieve their goals:

  1. They never set achievable goals to begin with.
  2. They have no plan.
  3. They never take any sort of logical action.

Do you think successful business leaders such as James Caan, Richard Branson or Bill Gates, were simply lucky or do you think these guys took massive action to achieve all that they desire.

You see whenever you attempt to achieve your goals; it isn’t always going to be easy. When you start something new there is going to be an adjustment period and there are going to be challenges you have to overcome in order to achieve you goals. That’s why people quit, or even worse don’t start something at all; because starting something new is REALLY hard and usually feels like you are going nowhere fast. The successful business leaders who make it through that initial adjustment will eventually get to a level where progress is really fast and noticeable, and for them it will become natural and fun.

Once you know where you are going and why you must achieve your goal. Then write down your action plan stating what you need to do to get there.

For example if you wanted to increase you sales by say 30% over the next six months. Where would you get you data base from, how many letters would you need to send out to potential clients, how would you follow that up, perhaps you would have a special offer to increase the number of enquires.

Because nothing happens until you take action – below is a great quote from actor Will Smith…

“You don’t try to build a wall. You don’t set out and say, “I’m going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that has ever been built.” You say, “I’m going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid.”
You do this every single day, and soon you have a wall.
